Chair Yoga

Tuesdays, 10:15 – 11:15am at the Brimfield Senior Center
Ongoing classes, drop-in, $2 for seniors, $3 for non-seniors.

This class is designed primarily for those working with arthritis, and is listed in the Brimfield Senior Center information as an “Arthritis Class”. Most of the class is carried out in a chair, with some standing postures and movements. We also use some “toys” such as weights, resistance bands, and stability balls to have fun while helping alleviate arthritis pain, strengthening, enhancing balance and slowing further arthritis-related joint deterioration.

Classes are offered for free so that no one will be denied access, and donations are always welcome. If you would like to contribute, please contact me via the “Contact All Can Do Yoga” page or Members’ Page (password protected) to make a contribution that you are comfortable with, if you are able and willing.

If you enjoy doing Yoga, or would like to try it, and don’t want to get down on the floor on a mat, then this class is for you. You can participate in the comfort and privacy of your own home, and can even stay in your jammies if you want!

Zoom classes started during the pandemic, and have been going strong since, as we all have been enjoying it, and no one has to drive during inclement weather. Plus, no matter where you are, you can participate, as long as you have internet. Sign in a few minutes early to get settled, and chat if you like!

In this class, all you need is a chair, a non-skid surface, comfortable clothing, and perhaps some water. Every class is different, and yet we practice a similar format each time: Centering, Pranayam (breathing practice), Warm-ups, Asana (seated and standing postures and movements), Balance Practice, Cooling Down, Relaxation-Meditation. Modifications are given to accommodate differing needs, as much as possible.
